In the movie Mughal-e-Azam, Salim rushes to his father, The Emperor Akbar, and
says, "......And as I watched helplessly, the Imperial Guards snatched away my
love, Anar-kali from me." To this Akbar coolly replied "Aur tum kar bhi kya
sakte the". (What else could you have done!!!!)

Ram asked Vashishth, "O Holy One, when the entire creation has been created
several times over and each time it has been the same what use then is
self-effort? Its futility is apparent! O Holy One what then is destiny?
Vashishth said, "O Ram, that which is called Destiny or Dev is nothing but the
fruits of previous efforts. There is nothing in this Universe that cannot be
achieved by the determined man who makes supreme self-effort. (For all this
Univeerse is but Sankalp). Hinderances come from previous Karma and the wise
man recognising this acts tactfully and overcomes all resistance to ultimately
achieve his goal. Dealing tactfull with the prevalent circumstances, also
called Prarabdh, he makes effort for a tomorrow where his focussed efforts
achieve their objectives. Know that he who thinks that thoughts alone shall
fulfill all his desires is nothing but a fool. Without self-effort achievement
of success is impossible.
Knowing this truth the one who wishes to resolve the dilemma and causes of
sufferring can definitely do so and can also know his true identity. He alone
who makes self - effort can know that he is one with the Universal Brahman, the
One.
Maha Shiv-Ratri is being celebrated in Kolkata on 12 th Feb 2010 in the
