Coming under the sway of Karma each of us has felt pain and suffering at some
time. Losing parents, loved ones to death or another, losing children, wealth,
health and peace. While seeking shelter in the Guru many of us have hoped we
would be saved from it.
For some it has happened while some of us have faced the blows of Karma. But
what comes to mind is that had He protected us would we have known the true
strength that lies within us? Had He protected us would we have really thought
about the ephemeral, the temporary nature, of our hapiness and sorrows, of life
itself?
Would we have thought of who we are? What nature our Atman, the Soul is?
We are nagged by the "me me me". And even while we know it is something more
than just petty existence there is no focus to find out the "real me".
Maha Shivratri is being celebrated in Kolkata on 12 th Feb 2010 in the presence
