Subject: News from Egypt
Many things changed in my beautiful country since I last wrote u about the
blissful events we had. On JAN 25th normal protests started requesting a
political change, dramatically transformed into the sad events on the 28th
where around 300 people (from both police and protesters) got killed and
around 1500 injured. Not to mention all the burning and robbing events that
started from that day onwards. Curfew between 3pm and 8am was effective,
however this whole period was filled with terrifying attacks of street thugs
and robberies operated by criminals who stole police cars and ambulances to
cover their work, resulting the loss of people's trust in any one. Cell
phones and internet services were suspended from the 28th, the first was
partially resumed after 35 hours while the second is partially resumed after
6 days. I can't deny I was so terrified the first two days, just like any
other Egyptian who hears continuous machine guns firing all night long, my
only protection was in listening to Qoran or chanting Guru Om and Om namo
narayana.
My friends and teacher's checking on me several times helped in cheering me
up a bit (thanks teacher Sanjiv Sarin)
On the 30th after my Kriya and meditation I was inspired to take the
initiative to ask AOL members to meditate for peace and protection at the
same time at sunset, so I called some people and we did it. The positive
outcome encouraged me on the 31st to take the initiative a step further and
called almost all AOL Egypt family members, beside the AOL international
family (thanks to the help of my wonderful teachers Sangeeta Jani, Mawahib,
Kamal and Ajay Khimji in conveying my message internationally) I reached out
to anyone I could be in contact with in all the cities of Egypt, to the
extent that I even asked some of the spiritual, peaceful young protesters in
Tahrir square through some common friends to join the meditation. At 4 pm
GMT not less than 1200 people meditated and prayed at the same time for
peace and protection of Egypt each from his\her place. I felt the energy was
so powerful yet soothing.
Yesterday I was asked to go to the protesting youth who felt the positive
energy on the 31st to guide them in a meditation upon the request of some of
them, but unfortunately the situation deteriorated and it wasn't safe
enough, however when I find the place is more secure I will surely go
because our prayer made a difference, it made us feel safer. Yet the fear,
pain, sorrow and anger are still powerfully filling the air in Egypt. So our
concern now is that we need everybody to put their attention with positive
energy for the peace and protection of Egypt and Egyptians.
So AOL Egypt's new initiative is: Everyday, at 4pm GMT send Egypt blessings
for peace and protection, if u can meditate with us at the same time (4pm
GMT), it would be great and I am sure that together we can make a
difference.
Last thing I'd love to thank all the AOL family members in Egypt and abroad
who kept on calling or sending emails to check on me in this situation.

The 111 Dosa Festival by the Art of Living charity
Tourists in Sri Lanka arriving for the upcoming world cup cricket are set to
get bowled this season. The Art of Living Foundation Sri Lanka a charitable
organization is to launch the Gift a Meal Nutrition Program for
underprivileged children.
The program launch will be marked by the 111 Dosa ( Indian pancake)
Festival - a first time ever event wherein 111 different varieties of
vegetarian dosas are to be showcased during the World cup cricket season
beginning February 19th 2011. The reason behind the unique number of 111 is
to be unveiled next week.
Leading hotels and culinary enthusiasts in Colombo are to participate in
this charity initiative to roll out the stunning dosa spread in partnership
with cookery experts from amongst the Art of Living volunteers. Swami
Sadyojathah Director of the Art of Living International says " Vegetarian
food is diverse and nutritious. Though the dosa is Indian in origin it has
universal acceptance and appeal".
This festival is inspired by world renowned spiritual leader and Art of
Living Founder His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar`s charitable service
mission in the fields of health, education, music, arts, culture,
stress-relief and nutrition for all. His Holiness Sri Sri explains "The
Upanishads declared annam brahma (meaning `Food is God` in the Sanskrit
language) we must honour it. We must eat it with awareness. God is in every
particle of His creation, creatures are all born out of food."
Dosa the traditional Indian pancake is also a culinary delight amongst
millions across the world. This festival is expected to see a whole new
range of Dosas including Ayurvedic dosas for the health-conscious. Dosa
waffles and Dessert Dosas like chocolate, strawberry, orange and other
fruity flavours.
A variety of Dosas based on spinach, tofu, mint, mushroom, peanut butter
and the all new doodles (the dosa noodles) are just some of the 111 dosas
expected to adorn the platter and celebrate on the palate of foodies.
In November 2010 the Art of Living in India was awarded the Guinness World
Record for the largest vegetarian buffet spread ever with 5612 dishes. The
food was later distributed to over 30,000 underprivileged children and
families.

The Weekly celebration in Muscat on January 26 but with a huge difference.
This time we got to see GURUDEV and talk to him .Were not sure even till the
last moment if we could manage it with all the technical hitches but then it
happened and took us to a new high. A first of its kind for Oman, at Ajay
and Kamal's place.
Guruji spoke to everyone about Berlin and asked us if all of us were coming.
There was a spontaneous "YES GURUJI' from all of us. even those who
probably were in two minds till then now saw this a distinct possibility.
(who can refuse the GURU when he asks you with so much love!!).
Oman is the leader in the GCC, he then said, with the first Ayurveda Centre
and now the International School. He also mentioned that we should continue
to get together more and more in groups to celebrate and meditate; and
spoke about the UAE gathering being also very good.
The Omani teachers and royal family members were also present and they also
spoke to him. He lightheartedly remarked that you all are are my
'OM'..AANIS..
Guruji also gave us a profound message for this year - "make your needs
less and your responsibilities more". We also asked for his blessings for
fundrasier that we are doing in March with Vikram Hazra at the Indian
Embassy.
The group of almost 200 people was in raptures especially when the camera
zoomed around to capture all of us waving at him and he waved back at all
with the most beautific smile on his lotus face.
Later, we spoke with the Berlin office to clarify details on the 30th
anniversary celebrations.
All together a great experience that left all of us in sheer bliss.
