Subject: LA Upanishads: 150 seats left!

As you may be knowing, we are inaugurating our new Art of Living Center in Los
Angeles, California.
This momentous occasion will be graced by knowledge from Guruji on the
Upanishads.
There are only 150 seats left as I write this email. Wanted to let everyone
know before it's sold out.
Register at: http://www.artoflivingla.org

April 15-17, 2010 - The Upanishads are the very essence of the Vedas, the
world's most ancient scripture focusing on the topic of individual Self and
universal spirit. They represent the highest in Eastern philosophical thought
and contain the most sublime truths of human existence.

In this historic inaugural event for the Art of Living Foundation's Los
Angeles Center, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will, for the first time,
unveil the often inaccessible philosophy of the Upanishads in a series of talks
suited to the spiritual seeker, the scholar, and the layperson alike. These
talks are aimed to bring out the wisdom of the Upanishads so as to make them
relevant to our lives today. The result is practical wisdom that transforms the
listeners' points of view and instills a deep sense of peace and happiness
into our lives.

His Holiness's discourses are characterized by a depth of knowledge expounded
with a pleasing simplicity of language. Millions worldwide have been inspired
by the facile yet profound wisdom contained in his teachings and the deep joy
of his presence, both of which have attracted audiences from diverse walks of
life.

You are invited to this historic opportunity to 'sit close' (the literal
translation of the Upanishads) and attend this rare commentary as a collective
celebration of spirit at the Los Angeles Art of Living Center in its inaugural
event.

Jai Guru Dev

Vinita

In the early 1990s, H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar gave a series of memorable Art of

example, his commentaries on the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, a magnificent stock of
knowledge that is widely published and cherished all over the world.

After many years, His Holiness came in 2009 back to Switzerland and shared

Easter Monday April 5th 2010 is a day eagerly awaited by New Zealand's "Art of

peace-maker, and founder of the Internationally-based foundation H.H. Sri Sri
Ravi Shankar will be setting foot in the City of Auckland for an action-packed

The main focus of Sri Sri's visit to New Zealand - the first since 2004 - is a

Country. In addition to the general public, a range of VIPs, community leaders,

Subject: Youth programs at International schools in Dubai

The New year brought in a flurry of action! Young Andrew Korza, ART Excel and
YES! Teacher, flew in from Chicago to conduct the first YES! at the American
School of Dubai.

It all began in 2005 . 'Jute Up' –an awareness drive was being conducted
at schools, homes and within social groups by Sandhya and a small group of
Art of Living volunteers. This then evolved bigger into IAHV's 'My Bag My
Earth' campaign.

As a part of its ongoing 'My Bag My Earth Campaign' to reduce and
eventually phase out use of plastic bags in Dubai, the International
Association of Human Values had been conducting lecture & activity for 300
students of the American School of Dubai to coincide with World Earth Day on
22nd April 2008. The event was organized by GAIA - (Global Awareness & Inner
Awakening), the Parents' group at American School of Dubai. Free jute bags (
sponsored by KRAFT)were distributed to the children as their show of support
for the campaign.

What started back in 2008, resulted in GAIA members expressing a keen interest
to hold Youth Empowerment Seminar for teenagers at the school. The school is
moving into bigger premises in September 2010 and aims at starting its own
Organic Garden, Composting and Green cafeteria. GAIA members preferred a North
American Speaker and an ideal match was found in Andrew who is a part of '
Deepening Roots' at the Canadian ashram! Andrew arrived on 24th January and
YES! was held from 28th to 31st Jan at the school's premises. Local teacher,
Vanya Vora hosted and assisted Andrew. Do watch the video created by young
adult Rohit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnyEwif2fDw ( Don't miss the world's
tallest building Burj Khalifa in the backdrop!)

Andrew interacted with the local Dubai YES! members- played on the beach with
them and helped them plant their own tomato and marigold plants. He also guided
volunteers about Composting at Mirdiff after their long kriya session one
Friday morning.

Andrew also paid visits to Dubai English Speaking School, American University
of Dubai and Dubai International Academy. The first ART Excel was then born at
the Dubai International Academy from 11th to 14th Feb along with local teacher
Sangeeta. 13 kids from different nationalities participated in the workshop and
thoroughly enjoyed it. They felt it was the most unique workshop they had ever
attended and some were begging us to extend it. They planted tomato, lettuce,
egg plant and capsicum seedlings in a plot of land allotted by the school for
this project.

The journey has just begun! We hope to take our youth programs to many more
schools. Earlier in March 2008, ART Excel had been conducted at Dubai Modern
High School

http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticleNew.asp?xfile=data/theuae/2008/April/theuae_April138.xml&section=theuae&col=

and in July 2009, a group of teenagers from the same school went to Bangalore
ashram to attend YES! http://www.ameinfo.com/206822.html
