Here I want to share with you all the most beautiful Guru stories I have
ever heard.
Mr. Sajee Nissan ji narrated this beautiful story on Gurupoornima day in
Sharjah.
Many of us have read this line in the bible, and many people have not read
this line even after reading The Bible regularly. The line is "He sits like
a refiner and purifier of silver". He asks casually how many of us has seen
this line, heard or know the meaning of this line. No one in the crowd had
heard of it, so he continues. One person wanted to know what the line meant
so he asked many people, but know one knew.
At last he goes to a silver smith. The silver smith was melting the silver.
He watched curiously how the silver smith was working .This line "he sits
like a purifier and refiner of the silver" was playing in his mind; he
didn't know how to ask this to the silversmith. Then after sometime he asked
the silver smith "how would you know when the silver is ready?"
The silver smith answers, "When I start seeing my own reflection, or when I
see myself in the silver I know the silver is ready," Sajee Ji pauses here,
then says, "Yes! He got the answer! Same way when a Guru starts seeing
himself in his devotee he knows that his disciple is ready! When Guru starts
seeing his image, his qualities, his own reflection, him self in his
devotee, he knows his devotee is ready" A Guru sits patiently like a
silversmith waiting for you to purify and become like him, a Guru sits like
"a refiner and purifier of the silver!"
The way he narrated this story really touched our hearts! There were all
tears in our eyes...

"If you learn something of value and you benefit from it – it becomes your
moral obligation to share the learning with others...." A Chinese proverb.
An amazing experience that touched your inner soul!
Many events happen in your life but you remember only a few; and the very
few you remember vividly throughout your life can be counted with your
fingers. The recent Ashtavakra Gita discourse by Anushji (travelling AOL
teacher from Kerala, India), based on commentary given by His Holiness Sri
Sri Ravishankar, can be classified as one such event in my life
The sessions were conducted in such a manner, with a generous sprinkling of
humour, that although I thought I understood the commentary by Guruji at
intellect level ,or on second thought did I understand only the language
(!), it took a whole new meaning; not to mention, the many 'aho' moment.
As a fitting tribute to this wonderful experience, we organized a 'multiple
choice' Art of Living – Part 1 course at two difference venues at different
times. We were inspired, were assured reassured and above all, at times,
were used as 'footballs' and kicked around by our mentors, Anushji and
Umaji. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, we all needed the 'kicks' and
the inspirations!
The belongingness and the vibrant energy that emerged during the discourse
by Anushji proved he certainly lived by the Chinese proverb mentioned.
From 10th to 15th July six part one courses were conducted at different
times at two different locations, which meant we now have 150 plus new
members added to our UAE – Art of Living family.
And the last day of the course, conclusion to the month long associations
was so truly wonderful! Never felt 'unconditional' gratitude in my life.
What a day! Guru Poornima 2011!
"Celebration : You don't have to be a millionaire to be rich! Just
celebrate the bounty of what you already have! "........Unknown! I
certainly did on Guru Poornima 20111
In conclusion, I must also pay my gratitude to our own Umaji (Part 1 teacher
from Dubai) to have initiated this whole experience. It certainly has made
the AOL family to be born again and with new members. I am reminded of
what Guruji said in one of his many discourses; a tree that gives many
fruits start with a tiny seed. Thank you Umaji to have planted that tiny
seed and nurturing it.
In a nutshell, thru' the Ashtavakra session, I discovered new friends,
rediscovered friends and above all, found myself!
