Subject: Music and Dance Classes in Ashram
Dear Ones
We are pleased to announce Music and Dance classes in Bangalore Ashram on a
regular basis for Ashram residents and others.
The classes will be conducted by Smt. Hema Rajaraman, an Art of Living Teacher
and a senior exponent of Carnatic Music and Bharatnatyam.
The details of the program are as follows:
Music classes:
1. Carnatic Vocal - 2 hrs sessions, twice a week (Saturday: 8-10 AM, Sunday
8-10 AM).
2. Veena Instrument - 2 hrs sessions, twice a week. Veenas will be brought by
the participants themselves.
Dance classes:
1. Bharatnatyam - 2 hrs sessions, twice a week (Saturday: 5-7 PM, Sunday
6-8PM).
There will be three batches: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced level for
each category.
We will start all these programs on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi
(Sep 28, 2009).
Those who are interested may give their details (viz. Name and Ph. no.) to the
Ashram Information Centre (080 - 28432273 / 74) at the earliest or mail to
srisrinatya@vvmvp.org.
About the Teacher:
Hema Rajaraman hails from a family of musicians. She started her dancing
lessons in the Vazhavoor tradition of Bharathanatyam She has been a solo
performer in her own right as well as a teacher. Her style is traditional, but,
it is not restrictive. Hema brings her own innovation and technique to this
style of dance with grace and perfection. Hema has been running her own Academy
of dance and music in Botswana for over two decades. Students who have
graduated from her Academy are dancers and teachers in their own capacity
today.
Hema is proficient in classical Carnatic music as well as in playing the VEENA.
She has conducted several programs and has helped in raising resources for
numerous charities in Africa. She has also conducted workshops in music and
dance all over Southern Africa and in Europe. She has experimented
successfully with African artists in fusion dance and music. She has
choreographed and presented several dance dramas.
Hema was also involved in an ongoing research project at the University of
Wales on raising consciousness in the performing arts through spiritual
development. She has given numerous dance performances in India and abroad.
Please inform others of this new initiative and help in raising awareness about
this Program.
