Ecology, power, employment, women's empowerment etc are serious concerns.
We at SriSri's Rural Dev Program are working with rural women and youth by
providing training
in order to encourage entrepreneurship as well as gainfull employment

We are working extensively with training of women in jute and cotton bags,
seeing these as an environment-friendly substitute for plastic
The tailorig Machines used are pedal-controlled or if motor-driven, power is
supplied by Solar batteries.
Women love to come to our "kaishala" -working place - saying it is a home away
from home
(and every bag has a story to tell !!!)

We have units at Ashram (Bangalore), Thrissur in Kerala, Berchi near Indore,
Dharavi (Mumbai)
slums in Patna and Kolkata
and we are in the process of starting more units throughout India
