This feverishness of fame, of pride, of social recognition is immaturity. Just
wake up and see there is nothing much in it. Its an empty bowl.

Are you Australian? And if so, do you have a Guru Story you'd like to share ...
When Guruji was here in April this year we went for a beautiful walk with Him.
Any of you who've been walking with Him will know that it's more like a run
than a walk. About thirty of us scurried after him, tripping over each
other's feet as well as our own. We wove our way around the Opera House and
through the Botanical Gardens, pausing whenever He did, looking up whenever He
did, all smiling and laughing and feeling utterly full to the brim with that
gorgeous Shakti which emanates from every cell of His being.
During that walk a few of us got to talk with Him. When it was my turn I told
him that I've not been writing much. "Why not!" He exclaimed. "You
have such a talent. You should use it." I re-decided in that moment to
write an Art of Living book. I just wasn't sure what.
On my last day at the ashram last week I went to the Radh Kund Gardens to do my
practice at the edge of the amphitheatre. Towards the end of two blissful
hours a particularly inspiring thought bubbled up to the surface of my mind. I
could see it all so clearly: to write a book called "Guru Stories" - the
bhakti-filled experiences of devotees. I imagined each page with an
experience, in the top corner - a picture of the devotee.
Really excited about this idea, I shared it with a few friends during the day;
one of them was Tania, an Australian devotee. Her mouth dropped open as I
spoke. Just before our Sri Sri Yoga Course had begun Tania was asked by one of
the Ashramites, Yeshorda, to find an Australian to put together a book called
"Guru Stories!" The instructions were that it was to be based on Australian
devotee's experiences; that each country will produce one which will be sold
in their Divine Shop and that it needs to be complete by Navratri next year.
If you have a personal Guru story to share then it is with honour and joy that
I request you send them to me along with a picture of your smiling face.
With love,
Jai Gurudev

Subject: Empowering the youth
CHENNAI: From July 8 to July 12, Chennai will receive the first youth
empowerment workshop provided by the Art of Living and W.A.Y.E. (World Alliance
of Youth Empowerment). This workshop is designed to bring a diverse audience,
especially amongst those engaged in the expressive arts and provide guidance
throughout the process, particularly using the methods brought by Art of
Living's founder: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
This workshop has the advantage of being funded by NGOs and not being under the
radar of traditional educational policies according to volunteers of the Art of
Living.Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living does have many highpoints being
that it is one of the largest NGO internationally even though it is mostly
handled by volunteers and is one of the only NGOs, which spends less than 3
percent for administrative purposes. It is also one of the only NGOs that sent
volunteers specifically for providing rehabilitation techniques for victims of
the crisis in Sri Lanka two months ago.The workshop heavily believes that
innovation and intelligent ideas are very important factors in the next
generation of Indians, and believes that in order to make sure that the youth
can unleash their genius, mental blocks in the body, mind, and spirit must be
fought.
One of the most common methods that Art of Living emphasizes is Sudarshankriya,
a breathing technique conceived by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to revitalize the body
and mind. These techniques have been proven effective when volunteers and
teachers have worked in rehabilitation areas such as prisons, refugee camps,
and other areas with harsh circumstances. For details and registration call

Subject: GURUPOURNIMA SPECIAL MEGA YES! IN PUNE
This 7th July was surely 'Pournima' with a difference as countless learners
bowed down to their Gurus, their hearts brimming with a concoction of
gratitude, love and respect…Adding a glistening zeal to this auspicious
occasion was the YES! course that took place in Pune from 1st July to 6th July
2009.
At a juncture when today's teenager is lost in the mist of
numerous confusions and moral question marks, YES! stepped in with a promise to
equip its participants to dynamically navigate through some of the most dazed
yet significant years of their life. More than 150 teenagers had participated
in the course and the transformations in them have been noticeably positive. A
vast range of teenage related issues and problems were addressed in the seminar
and solutions were put forth. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the course
with great interactive games and mind-opening interactive sessions.
Gurupournima special mega Sudarshan Kriya was a truly mesmerizing experience.
Moreover, on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the Pandurang was worshipped and
tulsi plants were gifted to all participants.
The course instructor, Omkar Bhaiyya, created a perfect guideline for the
participants to follow and to lead…It was his unique style of presentation
that became a huge hit among teenagers. Also, a lot of volunteers worked very
hard to get the registrations and arrange the course. It is only with their
tireless efforts, true devotion and Guruji's Grace that the course became a
possibility.
Although YES! makes a perennial attempt at reaching out to
teenagers at various locations, this 'GURUPOURNIMA SPECIAL MEGA YES!'
turned out to be an unparallel event in the history of Pune with its mega
participation. The course also got coverage of the media and received applause
in all the local daily newspapers. With its extraordinary appeal and amazing
content, the seminar has created rave reviews among children and parents
alike…

1. Know Your Child Workshop
A conducive environment is essential to learning especially for children. For
a child, parents are the environment. A layman need not know how the heart
functions for his/her heart to function. But a heart surgeon better know if
(s)he has to treat someone's heart. Similarly, parents should know how to
treat their children. Children by nature are enthusiastic, joyful, loving,
caring, stress free. However, these qualities fade away as they grow up.
How do we preserve these qualities in our children.
Know Your Child (KYC) is a two hour interactive workshop for parents to help
them to understand children better. The age group of children between 1 to 12
years. Often parents are found with complaints with children like
a) He does not listen to me
b) He jumps around and breaks many things
c) She does not eat properly
d) Children are just glued to the TV all the time
KYC does a root cause analysis of child's behavioral patterns and equips
parents with the knowledge to deal with them. The whole invaluable information
is given in two hours to the parents. This knowledge helps the parents to deal
with their children to enable them to blossom to their fullest potential.
