What is KYC ( Know your Child)?

We often hear parents saying the following about their children.

a) He is so stubborn. He just does not listen to me.
b) It is such a struggle to get my children to eat.
c) Oh they fight so much, I can¹t tell you.
d) They are glued to the TV/computer all day.
e) She is so shy. She does not make friends easily.
and many more.

Children are often called a gift from God and it is the pride of every couple
to become parents and be able to shower their love on their kids.

However, because the child perceives things differently he/she may not see this
communication as it is intended. There is somewhere a gap in this communication
arising from a difference in priorities on both the sides. This gap sometimes
manifests as a struggle on the parents¹ side to get the child to conform.

KYC is a two hour interactive workshop that gives parents a glimpse into the
child¹s mind and enables them to find the root cause of such behavior.

We have two workshops being offered in next ten days. Please register right

The Forgotten Ajwain Is Getting A New Lease Of Life As Antacid
Nandita Sengupta, Times of India

New Delhi: It's back to the spice route in more ways than one. Taking
grandma's 'gharelu nuskhe' (home remedies) to a grander level, ayurvedic
cooking - all about the right mix of spices and foods - is the new buzz in the
kitchen.

Cooking the ayurveda way is sheer chemistry: Food properties, what type goes
with which spice, how to snap the time, temperature and mix right and mapping
all this to a person's constituency. "It's about rediscovering basic
principles," says 27-year-old Kaushani Desai, a Mumbai SNDT Food & Nutrition
graduate, now ayurveda cooking instructor with Art of Living.

Wrong combinations counter food's good properties while right combinations
nullify the bad ones, says Desai. For instance, adding methi to pumpkin can
kill its tendency to trigger acidity. Fruit-milk combines are a complete nono,
replace cheese with grated mix of potato, nutpowder and salt; replace meat with
a combination of root foods like potato, jimikand and sweet potato: for the
same satisfaction are some quick tips.

Eating opposite to your nature is key, says Desai. So, a hot, light and dry
diet is for those on the heavy and oily side. Desai also sees the time a person
has for cooking and what's available (you can't have a grocery in your
kitchen) to prescribe the balance.

With wrong cooking techniques, the healthiest diet won't yield any result.
Recent convert 45-year-old Sangeeta Anand, for instance, always believed she
ate right. A persistent back problem troubled despite a diet of of fruits and
nuts. "I had to sort out what was going wrong with me," she says. Healthier
for having switched to holistic eating, she says, "I never realised that my
simple milk-tea and rusk in the morning were bad. Milk-tea takes a day to
digest while the soda bicarb in rusk triggers acidity," says Anand.

She was comfortable with cheesy stuff, instant noodles and the like, says
Shatakshi Chaudhry, 32, but everyday pains nagged. She never believed the way
she cooked or when she ate would be as important as what she ate. "It's
about using spices intelligently," she says. Having once gone into the
kitchen with newfound zeal, she says she needed no special diet. Her aches and
pains disappeared. "I'm not overeating or craving the wrong food," she
says.

Realising the need for people to snack, Smita Naram started Swadshakti in
Mumbai's Malad - an ayurveda restaurant, one of a handful. But with growing
interest in holistic eating, more restaurants are on the cards.

Modern-day nutrition paradigm is fundamentally flawed, says Desai. It
categorises people on the basis of their disease. So all diabetics are clubbed
together, as are heart patients. "But that's not how it is in real life.
Ayurveda works on the principle that every individual is unique in how he/ she
responds to food. That's realistic," she says.

Finally, the acid test for any cook is to have boys sampling the wares. "My
sons loved it," says Tripta Dhawan, of tawa-fried cutlets coated in magaz , a
powdered mix of melon, pumpkin, cucumber and sunflower seeds. Her kitchen now
is an ayurvedic lab of sorts.

Busting Ayurveda Myths:-
It's banal - No, it's not karela juice and lauki. It's all foods and
spices normally used. Funda is to cook right food at right time with right
spices
Takes hours, kitchen has to be rejigged - Same spices, same foods, only cooking
techniques change
Individual body types/doshas of kapha (earth & water), pitta (fire) and vatta
(air) can't be catered to - Ayurveda's a holistic approach, a balancing
act. A meal caters to all

Spice Route:-
Cardamom, cumin, ginger, cinnamon are good for all
Vatta - Go for cloves, mustard seed, small quantities of black pepper
Pitta - Go for fennel, ground ginger, spirulina, coriander, dill, parsley,
mint, cardamom, anise, basil
Kapha - Go for dill, clove, basil, sage, curry, parsley, oregano, pippali,
black pepper, ajwain, fenugreek, cayenne

Subject: Participants in Total bliss during Eid Part 2 Advance Course at Kuwait

A total of 65 participants sailed into an ocean of overwhelming bliss during
the Eid Holidays Part 2 Advance course at Kuwait with Vinayaji from 26th to
29th Nov. This was by far the biggest Advance course in Kuwait and was a result
of total commitment and dedication by all the Teachers and Volunteers, to reach
this profound knowledge from Guruji to maximum people.

An evening of Satsang preceded a day before the Advance course and Vinayadidi
with her effusive charm and smile impressed everyone present to experience the
joy of being in the Part 2 course. The Advance course participants included 25
freshers and 40 repeaters, and each one of the participants had very profound
experiences during the intensive meditation and other processes. Vinayadidi,
very gracefully led each one on a journey that epitomised love and grace and
rightfully justified the Advance coursed being a Journey from Head to the
Heart.

All the participants very thoroughly immersed and soaked in all the processes,
starting from the morning Yoga and Kriya sessions to the Hollow and Empty
meditations and other meditation proceses. Almost for all, it was a journey
into their own beautiful selves, which for a few hitherto, was an unknown
experience. Now after completion of the advance course, everyone had this
overwhelming feeling to come back to this beautiful program regularly..

Personally for me, coordinating and assisting this beautiful program with
Vinayadidi, a blend of love and divinity, was an unique inexpressable
experience.

Gurudev had through the several processes in the Advance course program had
led each participant to several levels of realization that divinity resides in
each one of us. For those who could not participate, surely this will inspire
each one to participate in the next Advance course program, likely to be held
during the February national holidays at Kuwait.

Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust (SSRDP) of the
Art of Living is engaged in training programs to empower rural women and
youths. One recent initiative is opening Computer Centres throughout India.
Under this initiative, four centres at Solan (Himachal Pradesh), Durgapur (West
Bengal), Phaltan (Maharastra) and Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) have been opened and
four more are likely to opened in next few days. SSRDP intends to open 40 more
such centres at different places in India in the next 3/4 months. However, this
efforts needs to be strengthened with the help and contribution of many
generous Art of Living members. Main challenge in this effort is procuring the
computers.

Those Art of Living volunteers who are willing to come
forward in this effort may send their offers to donate a computer each (P IV

Yesterday during Satsang, Guruji Ordained the Art Of Living IT professionals to
work together, to come up with feasible ideas and projects. As a first step,
after the Satsang, there was a quick meeting of the IT people present there in
VM.
The key outcomes listed below
1- It was decided that a Google Group will be formed to take the discussions
further
2- Natarajanji gave a high level overview of Sumeru
3-Various ideas came up
