Advance Meditation course guides one on a journey deeper into one's self,
enabling the spontaneous integration of life and wisdom. It offers a chance
to dive deep into genuine relaxation. We need to rest in order to be more
dynamic.
However, often we come back from a vacation feeling more exhausted, and in
the need of another one. The Part II course is a vacation in the truest
sense of the word. Complete with silence, meditation, seva (service) and
celebration, it will help one emerge refreshed, revitalized and invigorated.
Often offered in-residence, it includes special meditations that utilize the
power of silent awareness, and observation for culturing the system,
expanding awareness, and bringing freedom to life. The course is open to
those who have already taken the Art of Living Part-1 workshop and is spread
over 4 days.

Sankalpas:
The celebrations at the Art of Living Navratri are marked by a series of
yagnas and homas to nullify all the misery, sorrow and pain, provide solace
and bring in peace throughout the world. The homas are meant to nullify all
the turmoils in the world such as terrorism. They are also meant to protect
the environment, by instilling honour and reverence for Mother Earth.
Scientifically the Homas have proven to purify the atmosphere, casting a
healing effect on the mind and the body.
Each day of this nine-day period has special implications and yagnas and
homas are performed accordingly.
Maha Ganapathy Homa: The rituals begin with an offering to Ganesha, the Lord
of Auspiciousness. Ganpati Homa is symbolic of removing the obstacles before
initiating any new venture.
Navgraha Homa: Performed to propitiate Nine Planets, which influence various
spheres of life. It nullifies the negative impact created by the Nav Grahas.
Vaastu Shanti Homa: To subside the negative impact on the surroundings and
the directions.
Sudarshana Homa: Offered to Lord Narayana signifies the removal of ignorance
& illumination of a new life enriched with knowledge. The legend has it that
when the devotees are suffering from afflictions, the Lord Sudarshana
dispels his fierce form and protects the devotees.
Chandi Homa: The day of Ashtami, eight day marks the pinnacle of all homas
of Navaratri. The Chandi Homa is performed to remove any obstacles or blocks
in growth - both internally and externally. By performing the Chandi homa,
the sufferings that are caused by hostile elements are eradicated.
700 verses in praise of the goddess Durga are chanted. With the recitation
of each verse, 108 offerings are made in the sacrificial fire invoking the
goddess to bestow her grace. Chandi Homa is about recognizing the Divinity
in the whole of creation.
Rishi Homa: The ninth day of Navratri honours the seers & sages of the past,
present & future in the form of Rishi Homa.

AOL unveils education project for underprivileged children With the aim of
bringing value-based education to the children residing in the slum areas of
Bangalore, the Art of Living, today, officially launched its Vidya Shilpa
project under the umbrella of the Divine Karnataka project (DKP).
The project benefits more than 1,20,000 students in 206 schools across
Karnataka. The project is being supported by the Karnataka Education
department with the sole motive of upgrading the government schools in the
state.
Hanumantrayappa, Joint Director Projects, Education Department, Karnataka,
was present at the launch along with Swami Vishnupad, Senior Art of Living
faculty.
Over 200 youth leaders of the concerned area would go to every house to
ensure that the children go to school and convince the parents for the same,
said Nagraj Gangolli, Co-ordinator, DKP.
The project also aims to check the school dropout rate by identifying and
enrolling eligible children in schools. The schools in the North Karnataka
districts have been chosen as the education scenario in these areas is
extremely poor. To improve the situation, we are presently working in these
areas, said Gangolli. The project is functional in 47 government schools in
Bangalore slums, 19 schools in Bidar, 53 schools in Chikmagalaur, 42 in
Gadag,
28 in Gulbarga, 7 in Koppal and 10 in Shimoga.
The DKP is one of the projects undertaken by Vyakti Vikas Kendra, a Trust
that belongs to the Art of Living that take up programs to enhance quality
of life in slums and villages.
